Catherine Nunn

BAppSci, MA, PMAICCM, FIIC

I'm a highly skilled painting conservator and have worked in the industry for over 20 years.

I provide museum standard conservation treatment of paintings on canvas and panel/board from my studio in inner city Melbourne (Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung country).

My clients include The National Trust of Australia, art galleries and private collectors. I am included in the Victorian Heritage Services Directory as an approved provider.

Prior to opening my business in 2019, I worked predominantly in Australia and the UK. I held the position of Senior Painting Conservator/Acting Head of Painting Conservation at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, in 2015/16. I have also held painting conservation positions other highly regarded institutions around the world including the Auckland Art Gallery, New Zealand, the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne,  the University of Melbourne and Artlab Australia, Adelaide. I worked for several years in the private sector in London, treating Old Master paintings from important collections in the UK. This experience allowed me to learn from some of the world's best conservators, and I am grateful for the knowledge and skills they passed on to me.

To give you an idea of the breadth of my experience, some of the highlights of my career include the treatment of paintings by the following important artists:

International: Botticelli, Canaletto, Rubens, Renoir, Picasso, Jan van Goyen, Jan Steen, Jan Weenix, John Constable

Australian: Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, Frederick McCubbin, Charles Conder, Ethel Carrick, E. Phillips Fox, Fred Williams, Arthur Boyd, Sidney Nolan, Jeffrey Smart, John Brack, Howard Arkley, Brett Whiteley, Iso Rae, Clarice Beckett, Hilda Rix Nicholas, Margaret Preston, Rupert Bunny, John Olsen
